Sewage discharge ban to be enforced

PLA's Jason Rudd checks the PDC

The Port of London Authority (PLA) is to enforce a ban on commercial vessels discharging sewage to the tidal River Thames from 1 July 2024.

The PLA first announced the ban would be introduced on 1 March 2021 following a consultation process that commenced in 2017.

The authority says this has provided operators with adequate time to make alternative arrangements for disposing of toilet waste from on board their vessels.
